Plenty of nostalgia plus more. It's the finest horror movie in a while.
A spiritual successor to the legendary franchise of Evil Dead by Sam Raimi, was something I wasn't too interested in nor did I have any hopes because of how cliched the recent horror movies have been. Also, what else can you do to make it feel new. Except, it's all the more better. Lee Cronin, helming the director's seat is a genius. He not only took the better aspects of the older movies, but made them better while also adding a modern touch to it. Hence, this movie not only feels new but also has plenty of doses of the nostalgia which made Evil Dead the legend that it is. Not only it's sufficient and perfect with its jump scares, but the humorous elements are also in there to cater to your dark humor appetite. Moreover, the shaky camera angle moving with the protagonist and the blood baths, everything is there. The gore is unlike you've ever seen in a movie esp. the scene where the demon is eating a shard of glass. It really itches you. After a long while, we finally have a good horror movie. Also the climax is pretty creative. And I really hope this turns into a new trilogy of movies. Strongly Recommended, esp. if you're an Evil Dead fan.

Storyline

Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, "Evil Dead Rise" tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.—
